2nd LEIGIA International Workshop
GVCs and economic integration among Italian, German and Austrian firms
Department of Economics and Management, University of Parma
Parma, 22nd of November 2018
We are pleased to announce that the 2nd LEIGIA International Workshop will be held in Parma on the 22nd of November 2018.
The topic of the workshop reflects core themes of LEIGIA (Laboratory on the Economics of German, Italian and Austrian firms) and is of particular interest for researchers, business practitioners and policy makers. Recent years have witnessed a radical reorganization of economic activities along so-called global value chains (GVCs), which have become a major area of research. However, we still know relatively little about the structure and organization of GVCs that involve German, Italian and Austrian firms and the role that GVCs play in these countries’ growth. For these reasons we welcome submissions of papers from all areas of economics and management that focus on these issues.
In particular, priority will be given to contributions that study firm-level economic relations between German and/or Austrian firms on the one hand, and Italian firms on the other. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Foreign direct investments (FDI)
- Global value chains
- Supply chain or industry level analysis
- Innovation strategies
- Industrial relations
- Regional and local links
Papers that focus on the role and characteristics of GVCs and (both inward and outward) FDIs in these countries separately are also welcome.
